Erik Hassle - Hurtful (A Copycat Remix)

Swedish Boot Mafia consists of Copycat, Divide & Kreate, and Nachoman, and is our little side project for playing around with all things Swedish - and more.

The second artist to get the
Swedish Boot Mafia treatment is Erik Hassle. Here's my take of the second installment in our Swedish Boot Mafia series.

Erik Hassle popped up from nowhere, laying his hands on the runner-up position in the Metro Music Challenge in 2008. That rendered him a deal with Roxy Recordings, which subsequently was transformed into an international deal with Island Records and Universal Republic. His "Hurtful" gained him a lot of fans immediately. And after the Guardian hyped him - well, the rest is kinda history.

In February 2010, "Hurtful" was re-released in a slightly altered version worldwide, including the UK. The Swedish Boot Mafia still wasn't too happy with it and decided to give it the onceover.

Copycat's Top 10 January
@ AudioPorn Central

As usual a little late with to post this over here. You're safest bet is to check AudioPorn Central first. That's also where you'll find the full official list of the month.

A bit slow month for me. A bit hard to get started. But still quite a few brilliant tracks. Here we go:

#01 Team9 – MySplice 4 [link]
Technically a December post – but I was away when it was released. A splendid album packed with mash-up goodness – and a worthy farewell from our very good friend and one of the best bootleggers in the world. I tried to pick out a single track – but the best I managed was to narrow it down to 4-5 stunning ones. So the full album it is. Thank you mr9!
#02 Sharam – Don’t Say a Word (Sharam’s Own Mix) [link]
Haunting, hypnotizing and mesmerizing – and nothing short of stunning. Grabs you from the start – and never lets go.
#03 Billie Ray Martin – The Crackdown (Phil RetroSpector Remix) [link]
Cinematic, moody and haunting take on BRM’s new single. Amazing!
#04 Panic Girl – Burn And Rise [link]
Dark and ominous feel reminding me of The Knife in parts. Yup, it’s THAT good.
#05 Hellsongs – Warpigs [link]
Black Sabbath on valium. Lovely!
#06 The XX – VCR [link]
The XX will always find their way to any list of mine. One of the [many] highlights from their debut album.
#07 G3RSt – I Got New York [link]
Simply crazy – or ingenious – mashup of BEP and ol’ blue eyes. Love it.
#08 Soul II Soul – Back To Life (The Rules remix) [link]
No idea if this is a recent remix or what – but I know one thing: it’s brilliant.
#09 Alphabeat – Hole in my Heart (The Sound of Arrows remix) [link]
Esoteric catchy pop goodness – fetch!
#10 Ben Double M – Roxane breaks me down [link]
The best dancefloor mashup producer in the world, if you ask me, is back.
