Copycat's Top 10 September
@ AudioPorn Central

#01 jj - Things will never be the same again [link]
Best song of the year - so far - IMHO. Lovely, dreamy, esoteric pop with vibes reminding me of some of Simon & Garfunkel’s finest moments.

#02 Cinnamon Chasers - Luv Deluxe [link]
Excellent, chilled dreamy electro with one of the best videos of the year.

#03 7 Worlds Collide - Too Blue [link]
Now, here’s what I call a super group. Neil Finn gathered everyone and their dog to a massive pop fest down under. Brilliant.

#04 Bad Lieutenant - Sink or Swim [link]
Bernard Summer reinvents New Order and launches a more guitar based pop band. Hook’s left, but the hooks are still there.

#05 Flying White Dots - CMYK [link]
Hard to pick a single tune as I always consider FWD’s albums as a single entity. Lovely, dreamy, trippy - per usual.

#06 Dunproofin’ - Pjanoo Dance [link]
Watch out for the transition from the Bowie bridge to the Prydz Pjanoo chorus. Amazing.

#07 Marc Johnce - Troublemaker Kills You [link]
Never saw this one coming. Excellent mashup with an electro punky feel, where Weezer hooks up with The Black Ghosts - and Damon Albarn.

#08 Scotty Dynamo - Make It Right [link]
Young Canadian combining electronic dance floor friendly beats with witty and poignant rap. Next big thing?

#09 The Girls Can Hear Us - I Know This Song [link]
Excellent tune by Canadian TGCHU that kinda rekindled my interest in rap/hiphop/whatchamacallit. Watch out for the bass.

#10 MadMixMustang - The One I Love In The Morning [link]
This guy constantly hammers out brilliant mash-up combos. And guess what - he’s done it again. Razorlight (of all bands) adds a bit more edge to REMs classic.

Black Eyed Peas - I Gotta Feeling
(A Copycat Remix)

Black Eyed Peas - I gotta feeling (A Copycat Remix) by Copycat

So, this is a bit of a surprise, innit? Not really my cuppa and all. But I simply couldn't resist giving it a shot. Yes, it is another Beatport remix contest - this time for the Black Eyed Peas and their #1 single "I Gotta Feeling".

I kept [some of] the vocals. And ended up with some kind of Electro poppy thing. Sounds like… Copycat, I suppose. And a bit of fun. Really. Promise...

Click the link below and have a listen - and don't forget to VOTE/SPIN:

LISTEN/VOTE/SPIN @ BEATPORTAL

(you need to register/log in to your Beatport account, then click the "Spin it!" link/button in the player)

Copycat's Top 10 August @ AudioPorn Central

Utterly insane music month - you can tell summer vacations are over. I could easily fill a top 50... Here's my top 10 at least. A combo of summery feelings and a sad realization it's all about to end... Check out the full official list over @AudioPorn Central. Meanwhile, here are my picks:

#01 Phonat - Learn to Recycle [link]
A monster of a tune blending cheesy eighties with electro, hip-hop, house, drum’n’bass and what not. Makes me happy!

#02 Sebastien Tellier - L’Amour et La Violence [link]
So it’s settled. The man IS a genius. Lovely, lovely, lovely.

#03 The xx – Shelter (Them Jeans drum edit) [link]
The xx are so cool it defies any description. This is a lovely track that hasn’t left my playlist since I got it.

#04 Clivester - Heartbreaking Maps [link]
Lovely mash. Had me bawling like a kitten. Whatever bad spawned this remix at least gave us something lovely and beautiful.

#05 Marc Johnce - Bulletproof Paranoid / the video [link]
Very bold mash-up. Listening to it was like watching a horror movie. You expect bad things to happen. They never do. Very stylish - and very good.

#06 Antony and the Johnsons - Crazy in Love [link]
Antony’s cover of Beyonce’s track is AMAZING.

#07 Ratatat - Falcon Jab [link]
One of the stand-out tracks from Ratatat’s brilliant latest album. That’s not sayin a little…

#08 Girls - Lust for Life [link]
I’ve a penchant for carefree, summery pop like this - lust for life, indeed.

#09 DJ Prince - I dee-love it [link]
Ah, cocktails. Excellent. Thanks.

#10 Fischerspooner - The Best Revenge (Designer Drugs remix) [link]
Designer drugs are easily among my fave remixers/producers - always deliver. Even when it comes to a bland Fischerspooner track. [Sorry FS lovers...]
