Copycat vs CjR in the '72 Mashup Cup Clash

So, I decided to give this mash-up cup over @Gybo's a go. Brought to you by the same people who gave you the tremendous '72 - a group mash-up project, where each producer had 72 hours to add his or her own interpretation to a joint long mix - the '72 Mash Cup Clash is a cup where each producer has 72 hours to come up with and produce a mash-up.

I'm pitted against the splendid CjR in the first round, which indeed might be "Bye bye Copycat", as he puts it in his short long mix, or whatchamacallit.

I opted to blend ABC's great classic "The look of love" and Survivor's "Eye of the tiger".

Head over to the '72 Mash Cup Clash site and have a listen. Check out the rest of the entries while you're at it.

Depeche Mode remix contest winners announced

After weeks of deliberation, Depeche Mode have finally chosen a winner for their ‘Peace’ remix contest. Over 1000 producers entered the Beatport-sponsored remix contest, and over 51,000 votes were cast by the public making it the biggest remix competition ever held on Beatportal.

Altogether the band received 20 remixes, 10 chosen by the public via a vote, and 10 chosen by Beatport’s judges (who listened to, and debated each and every remix).

Depeche Mode then listened to and scrutinized each of the 20 remixes, and spent many days deciding which mix would be crowned their eventual winner.

In the end, they found their champion(s). No cats, alas...

1. Håkan Lidbo
2. Ladies on Mars
3. Monosurround.

Listen below.

Film girls in town (A Copycat Mash)
[Little Boots vs Duran Duran]

Yes, I've finally gone done a mashup again. It's been ages. This one's a gift for AudioPorn Central's second birthday. The blurb says it all, I guess. Listen/dl below - or head over to AudioPorn Central.

One of my absolute favorites during APC’s two-year existence is without a doubt Little Boots. We were quite early picking up La Hesketh and pretty soon her many unofficial tunes, remixes and long mixes became a staple on APC. We simply worshipped her and adored her impeccable taste in music, exemplified with numerous quirky covers and a BRILLIANT posse of remixers and producers by her side. Some days we could even post several of them in a row - in fact, it became kind of an challenge to scout new Little Boots related tracks and post them first…

Finally, when the big official debut release arrived, the magic was gone. Her first single was bland - and that’s me being kind. The rest of the new material on the album didn’t really impress me either. So I started to lose interest and found other obsessions. But when it was time to decide on a track for the AudioPorn Central anniversary, I couldn’t really see myself remixing anyone else than Little Boots. And just to make it interesting, I went for the aforementioned crap single - albeit in a terrific, wistful 80s infused remix by the ever so brilliant Fred Falke. Here it is accompanied by Duran Duran’s classic “Girls on Film”. My first mashup in ages. I’d almost forgot how fun it is to make them…

Happy birthday APC! And Simon, my brother, thank you! For everything.
